Hello, all,
Sometimes I get tired of my usual humongous stitching projects, and need something small that provides instant gratification. I've been working on Prairie Schooler Santas, inspired by Marly and her wonderful blog.
I am trying very hard to remain calm after a miserable day. My son, Evan, who is now a senior at Wright State University majoring in History, had an accident with his very expensive computer. A cat got in his room and knocked a drink on it, frying it. To make matters worse, this was a present to him from me just a few months ago and not even paid for! AND, his history paper was on it, with no paper copy, and due TOMORROW!!!! So, he had to take his savings and go buy a new computer. It really kills me that I will have to continue to make payments on this every month, as I had put it on a year free financing thing. Never again!! FYI, Apple Care, which costs extra, is NOT an insurance policy as I thought, it is just an extended warranty and does not cover lost or water damage! I am having trouble accepting that you can just ruin a new computer and it can't be fixed, guess I just don't understand these things. I might just take the money out of my savings to pay off my account so that I don't have to get upset again every month when I make the payment. Tomorrow I'll contact my insurance agent and see if homeowner's does anything.
Here is the handsome boy, uh, man. My one and only, he looks just like his late Father. I am so proud of him, he goes to school full-time and works full-time also, not an easy feat. Love to you, Evan.

Love your Santas! Your boy is handsome!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pain for both you and your son. There are days like that unfortunately!
ReplyDeleteThe Santas are all so sweet!! Sorry about the laptop. Hope you can find a resolution. Your son is very handsome in the suit and tie. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your sons laptop..Crap happens to all of us..But what a wonderful son you have going to school and working ..My son was very responsible like that..Love the sampler behind your son..
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the computer accident. That is horrible.
ReplyDeleteThe Santas however are fabulous!

Oh Melinda, so sad, stressful for sure.....Very handsome son, love your Santa's, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Your son looks so distinguished and refined! I'm so sorry about the laptop. How awful! I always worry that something will happen to my son's laptop. Your son is pretty amazing though. Wow. School and work both full time! When does he sleep? Love your Santas too. I need to stitch my collection!
ReplyDeleteSo bad about the computer. However you do have a handsome son and sounds like he has a real work ethis. Not many kids today will work and go to school full time. Love those Santa samplers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad thing to have happened and I'm sure I'd have been upset too. I'd even turn the thing upside down on a grate (pull out one from the oven) and turn on a hair dryer under it while someone held it in the air. Hey, nothing ventured nothing gained. How sad and I'm sure your son somehow feels as tho it is his fault, even tho it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteNice looking young man who looks like he is quite responsible and will be a hard worker and make someone a great husband one day. Good going mom.

Oh, I am so sorry. About a year ago, I spilled a cup of coffee on my brand new computer. I was devastated but I tipped it on end and the coffee kept running out and I put the blow dryer on it for the longest time. Then I tried to get it going and it started up as usual and has been working ever since. I could not believe it. I was lucky. I feel the pain of this accident....it does happen!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, your Santa's are gorgeous!

Love your Santas! So sorry to hear about the laptop. Hugs,Jen
ReplyDeleteWas he at your house? Did you check with your homeowner policy? After all, it was an accident, not an electronic failure. Hi Evan!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain and anguish--hope you get resolution. Your Santas are awesome
ReplyDeleteOh, Melinda,
ReplyDeleteIt's always something, isn't it? Hopefully that handsome young man was able to get his history paper done.
I am lovin' all your Santas.
Hugs :)

My husband is a retired insurance agent. He says "only a very few, very expensive, Homeowners policies cover accidental damage, unless the computer is specifically listed in the policy (like other valuables - jewelry, silver, etc.) for an additional charge. But you don't say whose cat it was. If it wasn't yours/his, the Liability portion of the owner's Homeowners?Renters policy might cover, as when dog bites mailman."
ReplyDeleteSuch a bummer about the computer. My little guy dropped his ipod in the sink ~ never mind that he has been told not to take it in the bathroom with him ~ we dried it, put it in a bin of dry white rice for 24 hours, and it is working fine. Hope perhaps your homeowners can help you out!
ReplyDeleteI am working on that very Santa now. I love them all and every year I bring out my stash to try and get these done. I think I have the very first one and all the years up to now. Fun to see the price change on these little patterns
ReplyDeleteover the years. I wish I could stitch faster! Beautiful work you have done.

Your Santas are wonderful! They are so timeless and appealing. Your handsome fellow is even more wonderful!!! Good job, Mom!

Was it a store financing option? Some credit cards will cover such things like that if you used one. At any rate, it stinks and so sorry to hear it. On the other hand, your Santas are beautiful. Best of luck with all of it!
