My New Little Dust Mop

You are not going to believe this, but I have added yet another member to our extended animal family!  Meet Bella, about two-three years old, mix of Maltese, Yorkie, and probably Silky Terrier.

She was a rescue, her elderly mother had died, and she ended up with my son's friend, who works full time, is out of town much of the time, and doesn't have a fenced yard!  She is the absolutely last dog that should have ended up with him.  It didn't work out, and I took her.  She weighs a total of 4 pounds,  had whip worms, fleas, bladder infection, and was practically starved...all skin and bones.  Some "rescue"!!!  A quick trip to the vet has taken care of all that.  I just love her like crazy after just a week, and I can hardly believe how well she and the other animals have adjusted.  She is just the most adorable little thing, and I'm so happy to have her!  As an interesting aside, my vet suggested that I cook my own dog food, saying 99 % of commercial dog foods are trash.  Steamed ground turkey, potatoes, and mixed vegetables with green beans and carrots supply the perfect nutrition, plus it is cheaper and more healthy than buying dog food.

  12. Such a sweet face!! Your vet is right about the dog foods. I've found the best one to be Merrick foods. Although I don't make my dog his food, I do make his treats and I'd love to share the recipe if you're interested. They're full of good things like flax seed, wheat germ, pumpkin, etc. My dog loves them!!

  14. Bella is precious and so lucky to come live on the farm I'm sure her first mom is happy that her sweet Bella is being cared for. What a bonus that the other animals have taken to her. It seems such a traumatic event for my cats when a new one comes in.

  16. Bella is just precious! That face says it all....she looks so happy and content at Merry Wind Farm! But then again how could she not with all of you to take care of her :) We rescued our kitty Patches from someone who was on his way to drown her, and she is the most wonderful cat, and our Sheltie was a rescue as well and he lived with us for over 12 years and was wonderful too. Your recipe sounds yummy....may have to look into that....Molly loves all of that anyway....LOL

  20. Melnda, lucky you to have Bella. I wish I could have a dog but no dogs allowed in my apt. So sad she lost her mother. Give her a big hug for me please. She is so lucky to have you.
