This and That...

Hello, dear friends,
As usual, I am at least a week late in posting the latest news.   Last week Lauren of Rugs and Pugs came down to visit for a couple of days.  She brought me this!!!
The most wonderful primitive painting!  I absolutely love it!  Here it is in its new home over a pie safe/tv cabinet where I can sit and stitch and enjoy it!  I think it is absolutely perfect in that spot.  At first I was worried that a pinch of morning sun might hit it, but I sat and watched how the sun travels, and it is a safe spot.  I fell in love with this painting when Lauren purchased it and blogged about it, as the spaniel looks just like my Oliver!  What more could I want, a great primitive painting that looks just like my baby!  Thank  you so much, Lauren, I will treasure this always :)
I must confess to having hijacked this picture that Lauren took, it is just perfect.

You may have read about Miami County and Tipp City in the news two weeks ago..  We had five inches of rain in a couple of hours, and terrible flash flooding, the kind they call a hundred year storm.  I so wish I had the presence of mind to take photos, but, alas, I didn't.  Tipp City suffered catastrophic damage.  Our barn and cellar flooded, but that was reasonably easy to rectify.  Many, many people suffered terrible house flooding.  There was 3-4 feet of water in downtown Tipp City!
Even Interstates 70 and 75 were both flooded., causing closure for hours and incredible traffic jams.

Til next time,
Melinda

  1. Be still my heart, Melinda.....that portrait is Perfect!!! Difficult to tell from the
photo...is it an antique or reproduction? What a glorious gift Lauren gave
you, but that pic of Oliver is not exactly chopped liver either. So sorry
about the flooding....prayers for quick recovery back to normal.

  14. Melinda I can relate to those 'hundred year floods' as we had two of them within 3 years of one another. So when the second one happened and washed out bridges I was wondering what they would call that one.

Lauren is such a sweetie and maybe one day I will get to meet her in person, but I feel as though I know her just by on-line communication.
