Resurrecting a WIP and Manifesto

Hello, dear readers,
How are you handling the cold?  How awful is it where you are?  I just checked the 10 day forecast, and it has lows below zero, and is hardly going to make it about 20 for the next couple of weeks!
Some of you will laugh and remind me that I am supposed to be the one who loves winter, but I may have to reconsider that!  It just keeps coming...  At least I am not being a couch potato during this, I have to bundle up and go out to the barn 4 times a day.  The animals are all fine, but the horses haven't been out of the barn in three days, they are probably tired of it too!

I am continuing to work on Manifesto and making sort of good progress.
I figure I might be finished by 2015!  I do love this project, but sometimes I think that in the time that is has taken me to do this, I could have finished 2 or 3 samplers.  I sure hope I LOVE it when it is finally finished.  Not working on anything else has prompted me to dig out a WIP that has been packed away awaiting my attention for some time.  Here is Hannah Lancaster.  I think I will try and finish her up.
I also have a new Essamplaire kit, Elisabeth Ramsay 1815, that I would like to put some stitches in.
Here is Charlotte posing prettily on top of my tv cabinet.  Yes, it is VERY primitive.  The little oil lamp was my great grandmothers.  Sarah Willson is visible on the right.

Stay warm and safe.
Melinda

  1. Looking good, but I am afraid I probably would have just done the bunny and quit. LOL. It was 15 below here in Michigan this morning. I want to skip Spring and go right to Summer. Janice

  9. Ambitious indeed, and beautiful. I can honestly say that it is too ambitious a project for me to ever consider. Good for you as you'll have a great heirloom to be proud of.

I'm tired of this cold too!!!!!! And hate the snow!!!!!!

  10. I bought this when it came out but never started it. I was going to stitch it on silk gauze but even so, it is such a large, solidly stitched sampler!! Its a back burner piece now. Yours is absolutely beautiful and may wind up being one of a kind!!! Laura

  11. Everytime I see you post about this piece I just get antsy thinking of working on it...it's such an aggressive piece. You are a stronger person than me to do a piece like this but it's going to be fantastic when you are finished.

  14. Oh, I LOVE Hannah Lancaster!!!
I do hope you have a bit of sticky tack under that precious little oil lamp so nothing can happen to it.
Stay warm, my friend. We had more snow today and it's C-O-L-D! This is our worst winter in years.
    Hugs :)
