Hello, everyone.
The weekend before last was the fall open house at Curry's Antiques in Lancaster, Ohio. I try to make it to this at least once a year. The beautiful early painted antiques are way out of my price range, but I also enjoy the hand made things, and always manage to buy something. This year it was a primitive bee skep house, which is something I have wanted for a long, long, time. Here is is housing a pumpkin.
In the spirit of Halloween, here is a neat tombstone on top of a small hill in the woods nearby. It is hard to see, but it has a carving of a finger pointed to heaven. He was a Mendenhall, some relation of the Mendenhalls who came here in 1804/5 and built my house, probably a cousin. "My" Mendenhalls moved away in the 1830's so very few are buried in this area.
I have been working diligently away on Manifesto. Here is my progress to date...slowly but surely.
And, finally, a photo of Bella, who you may not have seen before. She is a scaredy cat and is often hiding, but loves to sleep in this dry sink under the light bulb. She has the same name as new Bella dog, so it gets confusing.

Oh my. The Manifesto is spectacular! The definition and color in this piece! I forgot what you're stitching on so I need to go back and look it up. You've made remarkable progress too.

ReplyDeleteThe skep house is a very nice one!! Looks great in your garden. I have been to Currys before, I did the group house tour once. Pricey but she does have some things that are affordable.

I love old tombstones and have been known to walk through a few old cemeteries just to read the tombstones :)....I have never seen a finger pointing to heaven though. Your Manifest is incredible...truly a work of art! Bella looks quite content under the lamp light...seems she has found the perfect spot for Fall.
