Lucinda's quilt and my rug

Hello, since I don't really have anything exciting to share with you,  I am reprinting from the Needleprint blog.  Here is Lucinda's quilt and what Needleprint has to say about it.

Lucinda Ward Honstain (1820-1904) from Brooklyn made this appliquéd quilt, known as the Reconciliation Quilt, in 1867. It is one of the highest valued quilts in existence fetching $264,000, at Sotheby’s in 1991. It depicts personal events in her life before, during, and just after the Civil War. The centre panel, which is a triple-wide block, shows her home in Williamsburg. This historically significant quilt will be on view at the New-York Historical Society, as part of the exhibitionHomefront & Battlefield: Quilts & Context in the Civil War.

The wide center block of the quilt is the inspiration for this hooked rug that I hooked several years ago.  Several designers carry this pattern.  It's a biggie!

I knew this rug was based on a historical quilt, but this is the first time I've actually seen it.

In other news, I am honored to have joined Early Work Mercantile.  My updates are on the 15th of each month.  Please click above left to visit me.  Here is a preview of something I will be offering; this is my 18th Century Ditty Bag.

Spring has *finally* sprung.  It is so nice to be outdoors working in the garden.  I've obviously clicked a wrong button, as now everything is highlighted in gray :(  You know me and my computer skills!

  4. I've never seen that quilt before - it is exquisite and so is your rug! How long did the rug take for you to make and do you actually allow people to step on it? With their feet??? Please tell me you have it hanging!
Good luck with the Mercantile - I love your first offering!

As for the text being highlighted ... I'm guessing you did a copy/paste. When I do that, I have the same problem so it's nothing you did!!!
    Hugs :)
